Chicago Match Race Center was founded in 2009 by Chicago businessman Don Wilson, Founder and CEO of principal trading firm DRW, with the goal of bringing world-class match racing to Lake Michigan.
Since then, Wilson and his team have brought Chicago to the forefront of the professional sailing world, hosting events such as the Alpari World Match Racing Tour and Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series, which had a $41.6m of economic impact on the city and was attended by 195,000 fans. Along with legacy projects such as the America's Cup Endeavour program, Wilson hopes the sport of sailing continues to grow amongst young people in Chicago and is working closely with the Chicago Park District to create valuable STEAM curriculums around the sport for local schools.
A veteran of the Farr 40 circuit and 2017 M32 Corinthian World Champion, Wilson's passion for sailing stems from the sport's combination of strategic thinking and physical interaction.
