Belmont Harbor serves as the ideal racing location for the Chicago Match Race Center and the lakeshore's bleacher-style break wall provides convenient shore viewing for spectators. The center's clubhouse is located in the north part of the harbor making for a short sail to the race course. After sailing, debriefs and seminars will be held in the clubhouse.

Exciting to participate in and watch, there is no better way to raise your game than a one-on-one fight to the finish. Match racing requires the fundamentals of a fleet racer, the tactics of a chess master, and the teamwork of a Nascar pit crew. In less than twenty minutes teams will have completed a boxing match-like pre-start, two spinnaker sets and douses, and enough tacks and gybes to tire a marathon runner. Participating in match racing will improve all aspects of your sailing.
Found in the Americas Cup, the World Match Race Tour, and in the Olympic Games for 2012 the best sailors in the world are found match racing. In the fall of 2010 the first ever college match race national championship took place with thousands of sailors and fans across the country tuning in to watch. Now thanks to centers like CMRC that are opening across the United States, any sailor looking for a new challenge can get involved.
The Chicago Match Race Center was founded to bring world class match racing to the shores of Lake Michigan. Utilizing its fleet of ten Tom 28 sailboats and four Elliot 6 meters the Center plays host to numerous regattas, clinics, and nightly training sessions throughout the year. In 2011 CMRC will sponsor one of only two Open Grade 1 events in the country, co-host the US Match Racing Grand Slam, and welcome sailors to challenge for the Great Lakes Match Racing Championship Richardson Trophy.
Whether it is introducing sailors to the match racing challenge or providing a forum for the best in the world battle it out on the race course, the Chicago Match Race Center does it all just minutes from the heart of one of America's biggest cities.
